The seeds for the SURFIN COWBOYS were
sown in the crushed coral of Key West, Fla.
during the winter of '76-'77. It was the year
that John Ingram drifted east from California
for fun and frolic while Pseudonymous
Vrooman plunged south from New York for
similar reasons.

Shortly after their respective arrivals in
Key West, they met and exchanged phone
numbers. "Oh, yes," says Ingram, "I remem-
ber it well. We met at the Half Shell Raw Bar
one balmy winter's eve." From that point on,
the Muse took control. (How could we have
known?)

A quick press of the FF control brings one to
Memphis, TN, 1993. The Ingram-Vrooman con-
nection continues as Ingram proffers a plane
ticket and a promise of recording. (An oppor-
tunity with which Vrooman is "down" sans
hesitation.)

Since then the results have been good. They
have released two recordings, a "cassingle"
featuring "Beale Street Boogie", and a self-
titled CD single. (See "Music" page.)

The SURFIN COWBOYS' future plans include
releasing another CD single, featuring new
material already recorded and mixed, and a
full-length CD, to be out in the early part of
2001. In the meantime, they will be performing
their eclectic blend of jazz/blues in and around
Memphis. (The 'COWBOYS' enjoy "busking"
- playing acoustic renditions of their tunes 'on
the street.')

As a final, late-breaking news item, the SURFIN
COWBOYS are more than pleased to announce
the long anticipated arrival of Linzie "Kaya"
Butler as a full-fledged band member. He has
been an integral component of the recording
sessions and now, as of this writing, Kaya
becomes a warmly welcomed musical partner.
